About Us
The Paloma Winds formed in 2006 as the quintet-in-residence at Music From Greer , a summer music festival in the beautiful White Mountains of Arizona. All five ensemble members are active in the Tucson community as orchestral performers, chamber musicians, and teachers. Although their repertoire spans from the Renaissance to Classical to American popular music, the Paloma Winds share a particular interest in exploring the works of contemporary composers. The quintet was invited to play a full recital program at the 2010 Conference of the International Double Reed Society in Norman, Oklahoma. In August 2008, they presented a recital at Arcosanti , an experimental cultural site in central Arizona. In the summer of 2006, the Paloma Winds gave the world-premiere performance of Pastorales, a quintet by Tucson composer Jay Vosk . The ensemble presented a recital on the 2007 St. Andrews Bach Society Chamber Series in Tucson, and was featured in a recent broadcast on KUAT radio.
